Where nature draws,
and research listens.

It began with a piece of plum wood – traced with fine, black lines. A professor at Empa St. Gallen recognized the extraordinary. What looked like a whim of nature became the beginning of a research journey.

Today, a fungus grows inside the wood – not destructive, but creative. It draws lines, shapes structures, and makes the hidden visible.

The quiet elegance of nature

When lines begin to live, the wood tells its story. Myrai reveals patterns without artificial intervention – organically grown. Fine veins run through the material like notes through a melody.

Questions & Answers

A mycelium-refined wood that forms organic structures through biological processes – controlled cultivation, naturally grown.
A cultivated fungus grows inside the wood and forms fine lines. These grow three-dimensionally, creating a vivid, inimitable pattern.
No. The fungus is stopped at a defined stage before it could damage the wood. The result remains stable, solid and durable.
For creative furniture, high-quality interior design, objects, accents and decorative instrument making.
Completely. It uses natural processes and renewable raw materials. Production is resource-efficient.
In Switzerland – in a carpentry laboratory that combines research, know-how and handling.
Absolutely. Every board has its own expression. Yet the connection to other boards is immediately recognizable.
All conventional applications: waxing, oil, various lacquers up to high-gloss. Occasionally polymerized and polished.
Its uniqueness lies in the marble-like structure with distinctive patterns, which become especially pronounced in three-dimensional applications. Myrai is extremely rare and does not occur in this purity in nature.
Myrai is produced exclusively from Swiss wood and carries the CH-Holz label. Test reports from Empa confirm the material’s near-unrestricted strength.
We distinguish between a dense and a lighter line network. Myrai is currently produced from beech, ash, and maple, with additional native hardwood species in the testing phase.
The lines are fully UV-resistant. The wood itself, however, undergoes the natural changes caused by exposure to the UV spectrum of sunlight.
Precious woods are not intended for outdoor applications.
We recommend using furniture milk or care oil from our own range. Conventional furniture care products should be avoided, as they often contain silicone or silicone oils, which can prevent any future refinishing of the surface.

Research meets craftsmanship

We develop Myrai as a connection of design, research and natural growth. Together we create a material that respects nature and expands design.
